The Evolution of Festival Fashion with Newlook

NL
Festival Fashion Timeline by New Look

New look have put together the above Evolution of Festival fashion and I remember many of the styles myself. I have b=never been to any of the big music festivals but I do hope I get to do it one day.
I do however tend to go to events like the Strawberry fair and County shows and festival fashion has its place at these events too.

This got me thinking about what type of festival fashion I would be likely to wear. I am a very practical person if I am honest and like to think of every eventuality. Festivals to me bring to mind, Spilt drinks, porta-loos and mud!

So what does that mean for my choices? well it totally excludes the idea of playsuits which seem to be the festival goers staple this year. There is no worse thought for me than struggling to undo and slink out of a playsuit while trying not to drop it on the gross floor (see I think far too much). This means I am likely to choose separates or dresses which can be lifted up out of the way easily or taken off quickly.  Spilt drinks are likely with hundreds of dancing and possibly drunk partying people so there is no way I want to be wearing my most expensive clothing. The chances of your feet being stood on are also high so for me there is no chance that I am going to be wearing my gorgeous sandals while dancing in a large crowd!

So with that in mind I have put together my choices.

All items can be found at Newlook (suncream is Tescos own)
For those hot and sunny days I have gone for the above outfit choices Shorts which are light weight, comfortable and easy to take on and off. They are also fabulous as I can dance and not flash my knickers! Asimple vest that can be worn tucked in or out a cover-up for when it gets a bit chilly or later in the evening.  Comfy shoes are my biggest tip, and these cute canvas ones are fab at protecting you from rouge stomping dancing feet. Don't forget the suncream and sunglasses very important!

My second outfit is for the cooler or wetter festival days.

Lightweigh trousers which are quick to dry and comfortable are my saviour for days out, team them with a vest or tshirt and have a cover-up handy for if you get chilly. a waterproof is also a great item to pack. Comfy shoes again or a pair of wells if it looks like it is going to be a rainy day, the ones I have chosen would also work for a hot rainy day outfit too!

I actually have a couple of pieces on there way out to me, which I am going to wear in my own little festival inspired outfit.

I Think I am going to team them with a pair of cuffed trousers or a midi skirt for a relaxed casual outfit.

So you remember some oh the festival styles from years gone by? Do you have an festival essentials?

New Look summer Wishlist

Good evening my lovely readers. At the moment I am addicted to window shopping so when New Look asked me to pick some of my summer favourites, I said yes instantly, I never pass up the chance to shop!

I am obsessed with dresses again this year which is no surprise! I really do have far too many or maybe its not nearly enough......

I have fallen in love with the following bits and pieces

I have fallen in love with maxi's again this year but I still need to find the perfect strapless bra! But this one will be first on my list when it does, it just feels so summery and like I should be swanning about on a lovely beach.

This floral dress is perfection! I ordered it and am in love, it doesn't have quite enough room in the bust for me, shirt dresses are the bane of my life! but sewing up the buttons works fine for me usually so going to give it a try.

I still love a good bird print and this one is firmly on my radar!

Dress @ Newlook
Shoes @ Clarks (past season)
Here I am in my fabulous floral dress, I teamed it with some black leggings and my fab pink shoes!

Check out the dresses over at New Look which is your favourite?

Fatshion Faceoff - Maxi skirt

Maxi Skirts are one of my favourite wardrobe staples, as a short girl they can be quite hard to wear (well for me anyway) but when I find a good one I wear it to death!

This summer I found it really hard to find one that I loved enough to splash out for so when I won £100 worth of Pink Clove vouchers I was glad to spot one on their website I wanted to try. I have to be honest though I haven't worn it much as I couldn't decide what top would look good with it as it is quite straight up and down, but I came up with an outfit I was pleased with, I felt comfortable yet stylish.

Skirt @Pink Clove - Blouse C/o Simply Be - Cardigan - Very Old New Look
I only managed to get one full length picture and my feet are missing so sorry.

I teamed the Blouse/ skirt combination with my Wide belt to stop it all looking boxy.

Boots C/o Simply Be
I teamed the skirt with my Shoe boots from Simply be as they are great with skirts as it doesn't end up tucked into them.

A Little Close up of my new Glasses from SpecsPost

Head on over and check out the other gorgeous Fatshion Faceoff girls, I bet they look stunning!

AW13 Trends - Texture

Everywhere I look at the moment there is luxurious textures, from sofy fluffy knits, tough spikes or gorgeous wool tweeds and I am hooked!

I wanted to show you a few of my favourites.

This skirt is a gorgeous deep red with soft velvet, and needs to get in my wardrobe as soon as possible!

I love the simply pretty cut of this dress and love the shoulder studs, very simple for date night or a party.

I have been obsessing about this coat for quite a while now!

I NEED this cardigan, I love it in this grey colour and I think I would wear it until it fell apart, it looks so cozy!

I am not usually a fan of leather but I love the mixed materials and the stunning red colour of these ones and think I could be persuaded.

Again I like the use of mixed materials here, the tweed with the leather look sleeves is lovely

This dress is beautiful to me, I love the look of the lace with the nude/gold tones underneath.

Do you like you clothes to have texture? or do you like to keep it simple?
I am most definitely a fluffy jumper kind of girl!

Fatshion Faceoff - Denim Vest

Denim Vest

So this weeks Fatshion Faceoff item is the Denim vest, which to be honest is not something I wear, the wonderful hanna lent me one hers to wear for this weeks challenge.

I am not sure what to make of them to be honest, it added a layer of warmth under my coat today but think I would like to revisit the denim vest idea as a more sumer time item maybe with a maxi dress or tea dress for a layered look.

But here is how I wore mine today, I am wearing my Wallis jumper and plain black leggings with my lace up knee high boots

So what do you think? is a denim vest for me?

Go check out the other gorgeous ladies in there outfits.

Fatshion Faceoff - Neon Accessory

Neon Accessory

THis weeks Fatshion Faceoff has been chosen by the gorgeous LuAnne of Weesha's World.
Neon is not something I would normally wear even as an accessory it just scares me a little bit, I was tempted to entertain your all and change my dads tyre in one of his fluorescent vests and do a bit of roadside chic! but instead I popped out to the shops and looked for something in neon that didn't terrify me too much, there was so much tut in the shops it was scary but in the end I settled for a simply neon yellow necklace from Accessorize which set me back a whopping £1 and a bag and a clutch bag form Newlook in the sale for £8.

I am surprised to say that I would use both of these items again, I think the bag could be fab for jazzing up a plain office outfit with a little dazzle of colour!  The necklace is so simply that even though it is so bright it could go with lots of my clothing.

My phone can't pick up the main colour very well in this image but it isn't as grey as it looks its more stone I cant find this one in this colour online, but they have a black and pink version which is still full price available HERE

I teamed it with my trusty Newlook blue dress from last winter as it was a bit chilly out there and my heeled shoes for a night out!

The pink is looking really washed out in the screen but it is very bright just like the picture above!

So how brave are you, do you love neon and wear it often, accessorise are a good way of trying new trends without committing to expensive statement pieces that might frighten you into not wearing them at all!

Go check out the other wonderful ladies this week and see how their takes on Neon worked out!

Fatshion Faceoff - Sunglasses and Sandals with a hint of swimwear

Sunglasses and Sandals with a hint of Swimwear

Fatshion Faceoff is here again, if you do not already know, each week we select an item of clothing we all have (Blue Jeans, stripped skirt ect) and we each style that item in our own way.

After the sad loss of molly from the team, who I hope one day will have enough time to rejoin us, this week we are being joined by the fabulous LuAnne of Weesha's World, when I found this out it got all nervous and excited as she is bloody fabulous and one of my earliest blog finds, I have been loving her style for so long now, she is going to kick my butt in the style stakes every week, but I hope I learn lots from her.

This weeks challenge is sunglasses and sandals, but as I couldn't take part in last weeks posts due to some amazingly bad mosquito bites I am combing this week with last weeks swimwear post.

Sandals - New Look Wide Fit
Sunglasses - Accessorize (Couple of seasons ago)
Scarf as sarong - Butterfly Park

I realised as I went to do this post I have no sexy sandals I must remedy this, I adore these ones but they do not scream sexy summer to me, they are practical and incredibly comfy though!

Our Garden Swing is my usual sunbathing spot, it is my next project as it needs repainting, but its so lovely to lay on and read a good book!

Swimsuit - Evans (reviewed)

I feel very comfy in this and could happily sunbath at the beach in it, this scarf is amazing, I find so many uses for it :)

Pop over and check out how the other girls have styled this weeks challenge!

Fatshion Faceoff - Strapless item

Strapless Top

This weeks pick was something strapless, and as you will see, strapless is not a look I find easy to pull off.

I did however love the colour of this top and just had to get it, I need to get a different belt to wear with it as it didn't sit right but I love the colour and will get lots of wear out of it if the sun ever decides to make an appearance again!

As the evening was fairly cool I teamed it with my skinny black jeans and my coral flats and a black cardigan for my dignity :)

Also check out my lovely new glasses.

My usual dodgy shot!

The top is New look and was £9 in the sale, it is from the standard range in a size 18, the jeans are Dorothy Perkins.

Go take a peek at the other fabulous ladies who will show you how its done far better than me :)

Do you brave strapless?

Fatshion Faceoff - Shorts

Shorts

My Fatshion Faceoff post is late this week as I have had the craziest day, my little puppy Nell got over excited with our other dog and got caught by a tooth on her cheek, unfortunately it turned into an abscess, so today has been vets and snuggles for my little lady.

Until all the craziness started we had planned a relaxing day or walking dogs and me getting ready for a press event I should have been attending, which I had to cancel.

So this is my shorts outfit, its pretty casual, but I kind of like it, I felt sassy!

Excuse the not so good quality phone picture, it was really all we had time for today.
The top is from Newlook last year and the shorts are cut off jeans.
My shoes are from Tescos.

I am not sure I am a Shorts convert I may have to try more to see how I feel about them, but for now I think I will still be in skirts and shorts.

Don't forget to go check out the other fabulous ladies involved in the challenges.

And here is a little picture of my poorly baby girl, you can just see her swollen face :(

As you can tell I am still on my dress obsession, and all of these ones above need to get in my wardrobe quick sharp!

Left to Right

I am loving all the beautiful pastel colour at the moment, and a plain white shirt is always a wardrobe staple for me, I love them with jeans and layered over vests.

Schuh just kill me, I find myself lost for hours on the website and it worse if I am in a shop where I can try them on.

Whats on your must have lust list at the moment?

Fashion Faceoff - Coloured Trousers

Coloured Trousers

This week It was Molly's turn to choose an item for us all to style, and her choice was Coloured trousers.

Now luckily I have a pair of gorgeous rich green skinny jeans so new I had something to wear, but I have hardly worn them yet, as I didn't know what to pair them with, but in the end I think I did ok.

I love the floral tunic and belt over the top, and fell cool and comfortable wearing the whole outfit, I need a better belt though as this one is a little on the small side.

What do you think.....

This is the swing I fell asleep on at the weekend, and later found out the neighbour had been looking over the fence because I was snoring, I am so classy :)

The tunic is from Evans last year, and I often slip it on with leggings and teamed it with a long sleeved red or blue top in the winter.

This is the beautiful bracelet my sister made for me, love it!

Jeans - Asda G21
Shoes - Newlook
Bracelet - Funk and Finery
Belt, off another dress.

Go see what the other girls are wearing in their interpretations of this weeks Fatshion Challenge.
