Fatshion Faceoff - Evening Dress

Evening Dress

Well after a bit of an absence and a bit of a meh week, I am back and hopefully fighting fit!

This weeks challenge is Evening Dress, not that easy for me as I rarely go out at the moment, but I have a couple of staple dresses in my wardrobe that get dragged out on a night out.

The dress I chose was on that was gifted to me in a review last year that I wore for new years eve, it is from the wonderful brand Eliza Parker and the colour is amazing.

I do have a couple of special events to attend later this year and this is a contender, as well as some dresses I have seen on the IGIGI, Bettie Page and PUG websites, I love swing dresses and vintage style.

This week you get 2 hilarious action shots :) I am being rubbish with staying still at the moment!

It has pockets what more do you need on a night out, they are deep enough to hold my lipstick and some light items, think my phone might drag the dress down a little so I will keep sticking that in my bra :)

I also need to invest in a new plunge bra, the one I have is rubbish!

Go check out the other gorgeous ladies, I bet they all look stunning, as always.

What do you like to wear on a night out?

Saturdays Mini Boots Haul

Today I managed to go for a nice lunch with Marc, and get a little shopping in.

I didn't get much just some much needed hair products a new head scarf and some nail polish.

To be honest it is nice to have a day with Marc, we got to sit and eat, enjoy some conversation, make some plans for the future and just be our selves, it felt good, everything has been so up in the air in recent months, that it feels good to slow down a little.

here are some pictures of the nail polishes I bought, they a all from boot out of the 17 range, I got the Magnetised blue/purple looking colour and the pale blue called Heart beat, which meant I got a free gift which had the beautiful orange looking colour called Tropical island, an eye liner and a body bronzer in it.

The scarf is the animal print under the nail polishes it was £1.50 in the charity shop, and the perfect size to use as a head scarf!

I love the magnetised polish and may have to buy more of them, the pale blue is quite thin and will need 3 coats i think to make it work, the picture above is two coats, and the tropical island is completely gorgeous! so summery and I think I will wear it lots through the summer!

The hair care products i bought were some Aussie mega shampoo and conditioner and a pre lightening hair kit, which I will post all about when I get round to finally sorting out my hair.

What have you all been up to this weekend do you have anything exciting planed or just a quiet one like me?

Fatshion Faceoff - Blue Jeans

Blue Jeans

My Fatshion Faceoff post is a little late this week, my dad suffered a stroke last week and I have had to concentrate on my family for a while, but he is home and on the mend so things are slightly easier, but yesterday was a busy day for dad so I didn't get a chance to organise this post in time.

Earlier today a friend from twitter mentioned a worry about not being trendy or fashionable enough so I wanted to show her that not many of us manage being fashionistas permanently, I am far from fashionable most of the time, my blog is about my learning about myself and developing my love of fashion.

Todays outfit is fairly typical for a running about like a loon day! its comfy and practical, fashionable tops is something i struggle to find and need help adding to my wardrobe.

The top I have on is a scruffy one as it was planned as a hanging about at home playing with the dogs outfit, the cardi was added this evening as we went for dinner and it was a little breezy in the rain.

I have to further apologise for the poor quality of my picture, my camera battery died so had to use my phone and the lighting was terrible :(

So I have my comfy days do you?

Don't forget to check out the other fabulous ladies involved in the challenge, they all look gorgeous this week.

Normal service will resume asap, please stick around.

Dea London Visit

Dea London is a designer office wear brand who will be coming to join us at Plus North, I recently had the pleasure of visiting there studio with Becky and Toni who are wearing an outfit designed by them and Dea during the day at Plus North.

The amazing Jelena, who is the designer behind Dea London, invited the girls and myself to the studio to do the fitting, it is based in a fabulous warren of a building which rents spaces to all sorts of creative types, I loved it in there!

I took lots of photos of her working with Becky and toni on there designs and measuring them up for the finished garments.

Enjoy.

Toni looking very serious during the initial measurements

Far more relaxed now :)

Discussing fit and shape

Measuring Becky

Gratuitous booby shot

making notes on Beckys design

The studio made me happy, I loved the sewing machines and the feel of the room, it makes me realise how much I want to learn to make clothes, I need to get myself booked onto some courses this september.

I loved this, I know thats silly, but when I manage to get my office sorted I am having a sewing desk, and I will be making myself one of these!

Also need to sort myself out an inspiration board

Trade press coverage

Sewing machines

Overlocker I think??? Just loved how it looked.

If you havent already seen the clothing Dea London offer head over to the website for the full range, below are a few of the items I loved!

If I am honest they are out of my current price range but I know some of my readers are in good well paid jobs and like to dress in fabulous clothing, I know i would definitely buy some items if I was working as I love how different and sexy they are!

This dress is amazing, the details are awesome, and I want it to be mine, you know when you find a dress/outfit, that you know you could rock would get you that job you really want, this dress is that for me, it feels beautiful and i just know i would feel amazing in it!

I love how it looks on the model.

I need this dress for my interviews!

This dress is also gorgeous in person, on the hanger it is easy to dismiss it, but on the model it looks fab again!

The next dress has a nifty little scarf feature which I love, you pop one around your neck and have an end peeking out of the pocket on the chest, I love the versatility of it, could change your scarf every week depending on mood!

This is it on its own with out the scarf.

on the model.

I love the sexy sheep part of this dress, I would prefer the top to be more black than it is as the sheen isn't for me, but it love the shape and silhouette so much!

Thats just some of the items I love and the website has so much more to see, Jelena will be at Plus North asking for our opinions on her clothing and asking what we would like to see, so say hello while you are there.

A huge thank you again to Jelena for allowing me to gatecrash her fitting session and being so lovely! xx

I now need to find a fabulous job just to wear these gorgeous items, but first i need to save up for the first dress to guarantee I get the job!

OOTD - A Very Spotty Sunday

My outfit today had to be comfortable, yesterday and this morning was spent helping my husband Marc lay our toilet floor, and then the rest of the day has been recovering from the backache, it was a very small space to work in!

so I went for my new favourite Florence and Fred dress I recently purchased, I could live in this dress, it is comfy cool and easy to wear, I often fling it on with my little trainers and shop till I drop as it is so easy to slip on and off in the changing rooms.

Dress F&F @tescos
Shoes last year @tesco
Leggings @ past season John Rocha @Debenhams

Hope you have all had a fabulous weekend, the weather held out till tonight so thats been lovely!

Fatshion Faceoff - Flat Sandals

Flat Sandals

This week is Dani's pick and in typical british summer style I thought it was going to be a wash out for me, meaning staged photos in a fake outfit, I hate doing that if I can help it!

But even though it has rained on and off all day I found an outfit that could cope with the changing weather, I went for skinny coloured jeans from Asda as seen previously in this post HERE, and my fairly new Simply Be Bird Print Tunic, which is one of my favourite tops at the moment, as it is so comfy and light weight.

This was all teamed with my £5 Primark sandals which I got a few weeks ago as an emergency pair until I find a decent pair of comfort sole ones! ( I have delicate tootsies)

The top is Navy with hints of pinks, creams and green, so can work with a few colours, I wouldn't wear it on its own as a dress as it is too thin for me and definitely more of a tunic length, but I love it with jeans and leggings!

I left this one in to show I am such a professional, hahaha, I cant keep still for photos at all!

And the sandals, for £5 you cant go wrong, I am just hoping the stay in one piece after I walk to town in them!

So how do you wear your sandals in changeable weather, luckily today is warm so even when my toes have gotten a little damp they have still been warm :)

Go take a look at the other fabulous ladies, I am hoping they have had some sunny weather for this weeks challenge.

Plus North

PLUS NORTH!

On July 7th Many of us bloggers will be coming together to show each other some love in the city of leeds, I had such a fabulous time at Plus London Two I was very excited that toni and Becky decided to put together Plus North, as bloggers we spend so much time attending events in the south I think this is a fab chance to head north and show the wonderful women up their our support.

The event will be held at the aspire building in leeds it is a converted banking hall and a fabulous place for an event, it is open to plus fashion and beauty bloggers and our readers.

The venue looks amazing!

Simply be are the main sponsors and will be providing us with a catwalk show all the models are non professional made up of bloggers and readers, so it will be fantastic to see the clothing on a great mix of body shapes and sizes.

They will also have a stand upstairs on the mezzanine floor for us to have a good look at the clothing and feel them in person, which is fabulous for women like me who are nowhere near one of the fabulous new Simply Be stores.

There will also be a number of other plus fashion, beauty and jewellery brands coming to the event who will have stands upstairs for us to enjoy as well.

Sponsors

We also have contributions from....

Tickets for the event cost £5 but this gets you entry into the prize draw, a goody bag, drinks and canapes.
The prizes in the prize draw are pretty excellent!!

Some of the prizes on offer include, A photo shoot from Excite Clothing and you get to keep the clothing from the shoot
Dea London are offering the opportunity to win an item of there clothing from the current range, this excites me so much!
Benefit cosmetics are offering a huge £250 voucher for the prize draw, WOW!
Stella and Dot and Life's Big Canvas are each offering a Piece of Jewellery.
There will be more to add but this is just to wet your appetites.

Stella and dot are planning on offering hand and arm massages using organic products on the day.

Two of our fellow plus north Attendees Rebecca and stacy will be offering free files and polishes for everyone.

It is shaping up to be a fabulous day and I have offered my services to help the girls out on the day, I have 2 blog posts scheduled for the next couple of days on was a visit to the lovely Dea London who are making Becky and Toni an item of clothing for the day, I tagged along to watch the process of design and measuring for the item, it was brilliant to watch.

We also visited Chesca and had a look around there current collection they were such a fabulous team, and I have a blog all about that visit too.

So come on ladies, book a ticket and come along, remember it isn't just for Bloggers it is open to the public, bring your mums and sisters make it a weekend away and have some fun!
