2011 what a year!

What a year.

Well it is 2.27 am and I cant sleep so instead of writing this post later today I will have a go at it now!
This will include a small discussion of my depression do not read if you do not want too!

2011 has been an amazing year and a horrible year all in one, it has been our first full year in our new home after having to leave a house we loved due to psychotic neighbours, I came here suffering from severe depression and agoraphobia and spent the first 6 months pretty much locked in our house.
With a little work and help from the people who love me I begun to venture out into the world with people for support and have been building on it ever since!

The biggest and most positive change for me came through finally getting the courage to blog, I have been passionate about fashion since I was a teenager and my aunt used to take me shopping to amazing wholesale warehouses, but after years of feeling down about myself I just stopped trying but with my increased positivity and confidence this year I am slowly learning to love it more and more.
The people I have met through blogging have also been an amazing help and support in finding my feet and I seriously love all of them!

Since august I have had the opportunity to meet and work with some amazing people and companies, starting with Simply Be who have supported me and my blog by allowing me to review clothing for them, and helping with my requests Charlotte is seriously such a Fantabulous and Splendiferous person. ( we like those words )
As well as Ann Harvey and Yoek who looking into working with me in the new year.
I want to thank Eliza Parker who sent me a dress which you will see my fabulous review of on sunday after my new years celebrations.
Also I am going to be reviewing for IGIGI early in the new year so you will have that to look forward to.

Special thanks also goes to my Husband and steps son, and family on my side and Marcs for all the love and support they have shown me in my blogging endeavours, I seriously appreciate everything you do big and small.

2012 looks like it is going to be very exciting and daunting as I have so many new and exciting things to look forward too, I am hoping to be starting a 12 week course with the HellsBells Roller girls and reviewing some items during that time too.
February sees the epic event Plus london Two taking place and the gorgeous  A Monkey Fatshionista who is doing such an amazing job of organising the event.

I am also totally freaking out with excitement that Pinup Girl Clothing are going to be working with Tess Munster as there new model and expanding some of there range to a 3X and 4X. *praying for the Heidi!
they may not be everyones cup of tea but I have been lusting over pinup clothing for so many years and Tess Munster is seriously hot!!!

But most of all to my readers who have made up my 5000+ page views, you are seriously awesome! Thank You!

All That is left to say is Happy New year for Tonight and I hope 2012 treats us all well. x

Love from

Mhairi and Marc and Josh.

Poppy, Toby and the puppies (Hermione, Nell and Ron) wanted to be in on the action too :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Christmas Day

I hope you all had a fantastic christmas!

This year for me, has turned out to be brilliant, I had such a lovely day yesterday, with my family that I have been on a high.

I got some amazing gift that I love, and best of all my step son, told us it was his best christmas ever, after getting his new phone :)

My outfit for the day ended up being a bit of a hodgepodge but my sister got me a knitted skirt that I adored and my step son wanted me to wear the new top he bought me, so I think I looked a little miss matched but it was so comfy and with all the cleaning and handling 8 people and 7 dogs it was a good option!

Top - Dorothy Perkins
Skirt - New Look
Boots - Asos
Cardigan - Wallis

I hope santa made you all happy bunnies, I will show you some my other gifts over the next couple of days.xxxx

Merry Christmas

Well this is likely to be my last post before christmas, as my family descend on us tomorrow, I will be cooking for 8 people on sunday with 7 dogs in the house, but thank goodness, we all work together to get it done, my sister went to college to train in hotel and catering and my mum trained as a cook, so it is usually a rather good christmas dinner.

I just nearly had a teary moment, as my stepsons pile of presents looks so small this year, It isn't really and it has cost us a small fortune, he is 12 and wearing mens size small clothing already so anything we get costs especially as he has a love of Topshop and River Island already :) Fingers crossed he loves what we have got for him :) x

This year has been a difficult one and I am looking forward to it finally ending but it has also been amazing in other ways, mostly getting on with my blogging finally after years of umming and ahhing about it.

Sending you all my love and hoping you all have amazing and beautiful christmas days and get everything you wished for.

See you all on the other side.

Simply Be Review 3

Grazia Lace Tunic Dress Review

For my Final review from Simply Be I chose the beautiful Grazia Lace Tunic dress, It is such a pretty dress.

I was planning to wear it last friday which was my 9 Year wedding anniversary, but due to circumstances, we didn't make it out that night, so will be going out to celebrate in the new year, but I wanted to show you just how gorgeous this dress is.

Belt - Evans
Shoes - Nine West
Tights - Tesco

Please excuse how awful I look I have had a very busy day, the colour of the dress is divine and feels gorgeous on, I ordered this in a 22 and agin should have got the 20, but I love how it skims over me rather than being clingy, and the only real issue with the larger size is that the sleeves come up very big on me, but I have some excellent friends, who are fab with a sewing machine so will ask them to make them a bit tighter on me.

The under slip has adjustable length straps, which for me is very important and feels nice against my skin. I chose to add a belt to pull it in a bit under my bust put it looks equally lovely without it, and has a satin tie back.

The colour of the slip is lovely and rich but I love that it can be removed and I could pop a different colour slip under the dress for a different effect, I have my green one from my Zandra Rhodes dress review but that might be a bit bright!

The pattern of the lace is also very pretty.

If I had the chance to talk to the designers I would ask them to make the sleeves a bit more fitted and also simple things like black labels inside the dress as it irritates me having to cut them out because they are white.

But other than that it really is a stunning dress I felt instantly sexy and comfortable in this dress and cant wait to get it on for a night out with my husband.

At the moment the dress is also in the sale for £32 but they are getting low on stock, so snap it up quick, and I would definitely buy from the Grazia range again.

Simply Be Review 2

Zandra Rhodes Vintage Print Dress.

This is the second item sent to me by Simply Be for review, I chose this dress, as I fell instantly in love with the colour! Anything green or purple and I am hooked!

On the model the sleeves hit her half way between wrist and elbow, but on me the hit me on my wrist which I wasn't keen on, but as I always have a cardigan on even in summer, this isn't a problem for me, just be aware of it, if you are short like me.

Cardigan - Marks and Spencer (very old)
Tights - 100Denier Tesco
Boots - Wide Fit Next
I chose to wear it for a day out christmas shopping and having some lunch with my other half, so I wore my old Marks and Spencer wrap cardigan, my Evans belt, thick tights and my biker boots.

The dress comes with a separate green slip as the material is very sheer and it has adjustable straps, my husband laughed at how excited this made me, but I have very short shoulders and straps on dresses always need to be tied or shortened.

The pattern looks very red in the pictures but it is very dark almost purple/red, I originally wore it with dark plum coloured tights from Evans but as they fell apart in less than 2 hours I went back to my trusty  Tesco 100 Denier Tights!

I felt really pretty and relaxed all day in the dress I also tried it with my black polo neck jumper under and it looked good with it too, so has lots of options for both winter and summer wear.
I also love that It can easily be dressed up with some heels for a night out.

As my only negative with this dress was the length and looseness of the sleeves at the wrist, which I can easily fix with a bit of creativity I would recommend this dress as the colour is so so pretty!

You will get to see me all dressed up next week with make up and nice hair for my wedding anniversary, and my final review piece for Simply Be.

Festive Party Dresses

Christmas Party season is well underway, and I have been looking at all the fabulously festive offerings available to us plus size Ladies.

I saw this picture on the simply be tumblr this morning and instantly fell in love with this dress, I love the draped material at the front, the shape of the bust line.
Sequin Shoulder Maxi Dress £68

Next on my festive list of lovelies is this gorgeous purple dress from Style 369 with stunning pearl collar detail, The colour looks so festive and warm.
Lovedrobe Purple Pearl Trim Skater Dress £40.00

I have been really liking some of the dresses from yours clothing and I particularly love the gorgeous bright blue of this one, it is a nice midi length which at only 5'2" I find hard to pull off, but would be gorgeous on some of you lovely ladies.
Blue Embellished Waist Midi Dress £35
I love this dress so so much it is so festive and sparkly, Dorothy Perkins have got many beautiful outfits for the festive season and this can work well for so many shapes and sizes I still want to buy it for myself!
Purple 50's Circle Dress £42
Another offering from Yours clothing, this dress is very simple and flattering great for many occasions.
Black and Silver Trim Mesh Dress £30
And finally Asos have made me so happy with this dress, I may find the neckline difficult with my broad shoulders but this can be solved with a simple shrug and I am willing to give it a go just for its spotty gorgeousness!

Hair Dilemma

This year I turned 30 and I realise that I have never had the confidence to go all out with my style or hair, there is a crazy haired crazy lady trapped inside me screaming to get out, but is 30 to old to be dying my hair crazy colour and going nuts?

The pictures below are my various hair colours and styles in the last 10 years, always boring and simple, the only time i went a little crazy it was just the underneath of my hair and I didn't keep it long.

The next set is all the things I wish I had the guts to do, but haven't!

All images found through searching crazy hair colour with google images!

So what do you reckon, Is 30 too old to go nuts???

Review - Simply Be 1

Navajo Knitted Shrug Cardigan

Simply Be very kindly offered me the chance to pick three items from the current catalogue for review, I was ridiculously excited!

I wanted to choose three completely different Items one for casual, one for daytime and one for a night out.

The first Item I am going to review for you is my casual choice, I have 2 adult dogs and 2 puppies so spend a lot of time over parks in heavy coats trudging through the mud, but get far too warm in my coats so I was looking for something that would be warm and comfortable.

This is what I ordered - The Navajo Knitted Shrug Cardigan £40

This looked so gorgeous on the model I knew I had to give it a try.

I ordered it in a 22, but I am notorious for believing I am bigger than I am, and probably could have easily got away with a 20, but I love how cosy it feels and know if I needed to be warmer I could fir a knitted jumper under for an extra layer.

The pattern I feel, does make me look bigger than I am, but I just don't care, I popped it over my sheer blouse and a cami top and i was so warm and snuggly.

This Cardigan is going to be a lifesaver when it comes to the christmas shopping as I always get hot and frustrated lugging a big coat everywhere, this is fabulous as I can leave it loos when inside shopping centres but pull it round close when on the high street!

See snuggly and warm!

And who can resist a swirly item of clothing!

look out for the crazy lady in the park!

And just one more picture as it made me laugh!
yes I am mildly insane!

My overall verdict of this cardigan is it is lovely, the colours are gorgeous and it feels nice, it isn't itchy, this is very important to me as I can be incredibly fussy about knitwear, if it is even a little scratchy I just cant wear it!

I think for me it is a very useful item, for everyday use, popping to town walking my dogs, shopping and lounging happily at home, and would happily pay the £40, but would order it in a 20.

please excuse me looking so pale and my extremely bad hair day, sometimes I just like to be as nature intended :)

Simply Be SS12 Launch event

Yesterday I had the pleasure and privilage to be invited to the Simply Be SS12 Launch, it was such an amazing day and I saw some gorgeous clothing and underwear that I cant wait to get my hands on.

I will start my account of the day with my journey, which turned out to be so embarrassing and hilarious that it kept me going all day.
When I got off my train at kings cross and headed for the victoria line to get myself to oxford circus, I noticed my skirt was very swishy in the wind walking to the underground, but I didn't think anything of it.
I should have.... as I entered the platform for the victoria line, a train was just leaving the station add a big gust of wind flew down the tunnel, this resulted in my skirt flying up and over my head revealing my tights and knickers to the people on the platform, the guy nearest me was trying so hard not let me see his smile but to be honest I was laughing so hard I did not care.

My only thought was, well if I can survive that I don't need to worry about the rest of the day, and I really didn't.

I took a few photos from the event and more can be seen on the Simply be and Simply yours blog pages so make sure you check them out.

This is going to be a lot of pictures.

This gorgeous White and Red set jumped out at me the instant I walked int he room, I love a good polka dot, and this is a GOOD polka dot!
The shape wear all looked divine, with beautiful lace panels and sexy shapes so much nicer than the often boring black or frumpy looking sucky in bits of the past!

I need a holiday just so I can both of the retro inspired polka dot swimwear and also the other red/white/blue print tankini to the right, they looked absolutely fab!

All the other colours looked gorgeous too.

Chanos bra with the most gorgeous little details, so pretty.

The lovely Ceri from Curvyguru

These WILL be mine!

Finally a company is realising we don't all want to wear shapeless black tents!!

Pretty Bags and sandals for the summer.

My picture doesnt do them justice but these were such a gorgeous coral colour and the heel looked perfect, anyone inviting me to a summer wedding?

Lace and pink, felt gorgeous!!

Think I have found my summer maxi dress.

Loved how vibrant the colours are.

Loved this dress fat girls CAN wear white!

The girly pink flowers on this little shrug jacket were just gorgeous.

And the jumpsuit teamed with it, may have tempted me to give one a try, it felt soft but the material was heavy enough that it didn't feel like it was going to cling in all the wrong places and hang like a sack.

Not usually one for yell but I loved this blouse with its tiny black stars all over, think this will be added to my wardrobe as well.

And all of us bloggers together.
Back left to right Em from oh the places you'll go, Ceri from curvyguru, Naomi from Diamonds 'n' Pearls, Me, Georgina from fullerfigurefullerbust.
Front left to right Lauren from pocketrocket and Rosie from A rose like this.

All the wonderful people i met yesterday were so friendly and made me feel welcome, especially as I was a nervous wreck, I really hope I get to spend more time with them in the future as I had a fabulous day.

I would like to say a special thank you to Charlotte Simply be who has been so fantastic inviting me along and allowing me to select some gorgeous items from the current collection online at Simply Be for review.

So watch this space my reviews will be coming up in the near future.

Dune Shoes!

My love of shoes goes back many years, I think it came from my granny!

I have about 50 pairs at the moment, but used to have well over 100 until I got rid of all the tut filling my wardrobe.

After seeing some talk of dune on twitter from other bloggers I went off and had a look through the site, It has been a few years since I purchased anything from them, and after looking at the site I have no idea why I stopped, so many pretty shoes in the collection!

But the ones that really jumped out at me were these fabulous shoes.

HOLLY D - Online Exclusive Sling Back Sandal £99.00

My Favourite colour are the gorgeous peacock Blue/Green colour ones, Jewel tones at the moment, are making me very happy and I love the way these shoes look as though they will hold your foot and be comfortable to dance the night away in.

They also come in these other gorgeous colours.

As soon as I find a way to add these to my collection I will let you know if dune were worth going back to and if they are as comfortable and as gorgeous in person as they look in the pictures.
